So what is Crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is funding or money that is given to entrepreneurs from friends, acquaintances, and the general Internet crowd who is interested in what they're doing.

Let me give you some examples of how it works...

Laura Boyd of South Carolina wanted to launch a photography company...

Specifically, she wanted to start by flying to Paris and creating a collection of photographs in HDR...

So, she posted her project on the crowdfunding platform RocketHub.com.

And within days was given $5,890 to start her company by 38 acquaintances and total strangers.

Or take Daniel Grippi, Maxwell Salzberg, Raphael Sofaer and Ilya Zhitromirskiy the 4 NYU students who had the idea to create a new social network called Diaspora...

These students posted their request on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.com.

And raised $200,642 from 6,470 folks. most of which they've never met but who found them and funded them online!

Or take the Travel Tripod, which raised $12.1 million from 27,168 backers.

Now here is what is so absolutely incredibly cool about crowdfunding...

All you need to do is:

1. Have a good idea

2. Present it in the right way (which I'll show you how to do this in a moment)

And you can quickly raise all the money you need!

And if that's not cool enough, crowdfunding has another amazing benefit.

When you raise money from crowdfunding, you neither give up debt nor equity in your company...

That means that you don't have to pay back the money you get...

And you don't give up shares in your company.

This is because all the money is donated to you.

Could it get any better than this?

Here's How It Works

Now let me tell you how the donations work, because this is one of my favorite things about crowdfunding...

Now some folks will donate $10, $25, $50, $100 or more just because they like you or think that what you're doing is cool...

But in many cases, people will donate to you because you'll give them rewards for their donations...

Let me give you some examples.

Sight Unseen, an online magazine about creativity, raised $3,895 from 52 backers.

For donations of $200 or more, they gave backers a link and mention on Sight Unseen's "list of sites we love."

That didn't cost Sight Unseen a penny, but they got several people to donate $200 each to get it.

Or My Friend's Mustard who raised $4,293 from 54 backers.

For donations above $80, this mustard manufacturer gave folks an invite to their launch party.

Or Love Cupcakes who raised $7,240 from 41 backers.

For donations of $50, they gave donators a dozen cupcakes. And for donations of $500, the cupcake shop named cupcakes after the donators.

And yes, I would probably donate $500 to know that people can walk into a shop and order the Dave Lavinsky cupcake.

The point is that you set up cool rewards (that may not cost you anything) to get people to donate to you...

Now if you're looking for anywhere from $2,000 to $200,000 to start or grow a business, I have something important to tell you.

Crowdfunding is hands-down the best way to raise money for any business...
